My wife Caroline does an extraordinary job on her music sites. I think she has raised the standard for online artist discographies, because her attention to detail leaves no question unanswered, e.g. “What does the picture sleeve look like?” or “What are the B-sides to this single?”. Research websites should follow her lead (as should most books related to major-label recordings). Sure, I’m biased. A true collector will enjoy perusing:
Alisha’s Attic
Shelly Poole
Peach
Rialto
My Life Story
Scarlet
Apart from all the aliens and death, I wish 1980 had been like this… everyone dressed in Sylvia Anderson, driving cool, hyper-angular cars on their way to parties with “Get Back” playing on the stereo. The occasional (always tasteful) use of Beatles music in ITC shows demonstrates Sir Lew Grade was less irresponsible as owner of Northern Songs than Michael Jackson… after all, while the publishing company was Lew Grade’s, he at least used it to finance The Protectors and The Persuaders!
Rodney | 12:56:00 PM [permalink]I’ve made it through the wall of silence now but it was harrowing, enduring months of being cloaked in dysphasia. It’s bewildering not to be able to grasp words, a situation not dissimilar to Homer Simpson trying to remember the word “spoon.”
Needless to say being creative under those conditions was not happening.
It’s been years since we’ve had a winter like this. Snow sparkling, freezing cold, the world covered in white. I was born in the winter (not far from where Calvin’s woods would be). I never tire of it.
