A survey of most missed TV series conducted by a UK firm, Home Media Networks, has Stargate SG-1 at number 8. Which appeals to my sense of quality. (The last episode, which was the last episode, aired in the UK was “Moebius Part 2”. A series of the same name, however, continues on the Sci-Fi Channel.)

Celebrating the New Year wasn’t big where I came from. It was only made to seem special on TV. This caused problems later in life, as you might imagine. As an adult I still related the eve of the new year to television. That isn’t where it’s at.

I am wondering whether I should continue with this project or ease up to sporadic posting. I find myself in a less chatty mood lately, and pointing does not always seem like a productive use of time.

In the US, Christmas specials aren’t special—apart from A Charlie Brown Christmas and the Rankin-Bass specials, which are familiar from 30 years of repeats, there isn’t anything to gather around for.
Not so in the UK, where first-run special episodes are the norm.
