I’m relieved that Tuning Fork is providing the public service of debunking Pitchforkmedia, which is the Rolling Stone of this generation (as nightmarish as that implies, and probably worse, since it is Rolling Stone without the occasional saving grace of the likes of Hunter Thompson).

A review of Coldplay’s X&Y appearing in the July Interview begins with the statement “Most people’s neuroses aren’t very interesting.” Is this not the conclusive refutation of Interview’s very existence? Celebrities interviewing other celebrities, talking amongst themselves about themselves… in big print, no less.

My dad gave me a ride home last night in his truck. He’s always driven a pickup truck. Sitting in the passenger seat reminded me of days from summers long ago when short trips to the hardware store always included a stop at the local Dairy Queen on the way back.
He told me not to worry so much.

Last night, my wife and I were discussing the future, when she made the point that we “won’t be here 30 years from now.” I timidly asked where we’d be. I guess my idea of life expectancy is a lot more generous than hers.
Still, it was a pretty sobering realisation.
