I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday

30 December 2004, 22:00

Everything is winding down. It really bothered Caroline her first few years here—to Britons, Christmas is a season (cf. “The Twelve Days of Christmas”). People have a lot of time off to celebrate, as opposed to the miserly day or two grudgingly given to workers in the US. So, obviously, it has come to bother me as well.

This year it seemed to take longer to get through the post-Thanksgiving period, but once they arrived, the holidays have progressed very briskly. I did most of what I wanted to do, so I have no regrets, but I’m much more sentimental than I was. I’m reluctant to see another Christmas season go.
